Physics, step by step
Physics is hard because it asks students to understand the idea and handle the math at the same time. I help with both: what is actually happening in the problem, and how to set up and solve the equations.
- High school Physics: regular, Honors and AP Physics.
- College Physics: introductory algebra-based and calculus-based courses.
- Topics: motion and kinematics, forces and Newton’s laws, energy and momentum, circular motion and gravity, waves, and electricity and circuits.
How I teach Physics
I’m Tim Rusli, a Math and Physics tutor with a Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics from Rutgers University. I teach students a repeatable way to approach any problem: draw a clear diagram, list what’s known, choose the right principle, and check the answer for units and common sense. I explain each idea in more than one way until it clicks, and I use my own memory tools to make formulas easier to remember.
Because Physics leans on Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus, I can also fill in any Math gaps that are holding a student back.
What parents say
“Timothy was a great tutor for my son in both Honors Algebra and Honors Physics. He was kind, patient and efficient and helped my son understand the concepts. My son was very grateful for his help and his grades improved!”
Kate S., parent (via Google)
“He is taking AP physics and AP calc this year and he is happy with the explanations and the attention. Both physics and calculus are difficult subjects for children and Timothy is well versed with the material and what is required for exam taking.”

Questions
Can you help with AP Physics exam prep?
Yes. We review the key concepts, practice exam-style questions, and work on explaining answers clearly, which AP Physics exams reward.
My child understands the ideas but struggles with the math. Can you help?
Yes, that’s very common. Since I tutor both Math and Physics, I can fix the Math skills that Physics depends on.
Do you tutor online?
Yes. Online sessions are over Zoom and work the same way as in person.
