Prep built around your student
Every student loses points in different places. Instead of a one-size-fits-all course, I find exactly which topics and question types cost your student the most points and focus our time there.
- Start with a practice test. We begin with an official practice test from the College Board’s Bluebook app to see where your student stands.
- Close the gaps. We work through the four areas the SAT tests: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Use the built-in calculator well. The digital SAT includes a Desmos graphing calculator, and knowing when to use it can save a lot of time.
- Practice timing. Students practice pacing and learn how the adaptive modules work, so test day feels familiar.
- Review every mistake. We go over each missed question until the idea behind it makes sense.
When to start
For most students, starting 8 to 10 weeks before the test date gives enough time for steady weekly sessions without cramming. If the test is sooner, we can still make a focused plan. Check current test dates on the College Board’s website.
About me
I’m Tim Rusli, a Math and Physics tutor with a Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics from Rutgers University. I explain things in more than one way until it clicks, with my own math tricks and memory tools for formulas.
What parents say
“Tim helped my son prepare for his SAT (in math). He was very professional, patient, clear, knowledgeable, and friendly. Most importantly, the rates were very reasonable in comparison to similar providers.”
Yvonne M., parent (via Facebook)
“He has been working with my son on SAT prep, physics and pre-calculus. As a B student with some learning challenges, my son needed a tutor that worked at a slower pace. Tim has done a great job helping my son prepare for tests while working at a good pace.”
Cynthia, parent (via Wyzant)

Questions
How is the digital SAT different from the old paper test?
It’s shorter, it’s taken on a computer or tablet, each section adapts to how the student did on its first module, and a calculator is allowed on the whole Math section. Older prep books written for the paper test can be misleading, so I use current practice material.
Can you guarantee a certain score?
No honest tutor can guarantee a score. What I can offer is a clear plan, focused practice on your student’s weak spots, and progress you can track on practice tests.
Do you help with the PSAT too?
Yes. The PSAT Math section covers the same kinds of questions, so prep for one helps with the other.
